Have had back problems for years with siatica nerve to bulging disc, I will never consent to surgery because when have you heard someone say, "I had back surgery and it was great!" You don't hear that. At this point I'm not down in my back, it's just that I know there's bad trouble again because after I've been up a couple of hours my legs hurt from my knees down like their in a cramp and it's almost unbearable. Themn if I sit my feet go to sleep and I night I awake with my arms asleep but I also have 2 bulging disc in my neck. Would like to hear from some people with simular problems. If mine doesn't get better I will be forced to get an MRI and then shots in my back where they put you to sleep and inject steriods to reduce sweeling in the right spot. Any dr that injects without x-ray is wasting his and your time.......

It's good to didn't have any surgeries done - there is a better solution:

Go for a one-time treatment called Atlasprofilax. One of the effects is, that the pressure on the discs is distributed much better - so the bulging disc may recover completely.

Just - the treatment is available in California and Europe only, costing approx. 220 dollars. It's really worth travelling far.

I'm unsure of what 'shots' you're referring to, but epidurals inject steriods and are done with you perfectly awake. I've know many people that have had great results with these. They also need to be done by an anesthesiologist. He is trained for this (he is the same one who would give an epidural anesthesia to a woman in labor and, lord knows, he'd better know what he's doing there!!!).
I've also had fairly good luck with a TENS unit as long as the pain wasn't incapacitating. Stick with physical therapy or chiropractic. A good chiropractor will offer you accupuncture or laser accupuncture and both of these are terrific!! Hang in there!!!

I have spinal stenosis and it started acting up again recently. Terrible pain in back and down right leg. I'm suppose to have an MRI on Tuesday. Hope I can get thru that. Not a fun place to be. I will do the epidurals again, they really help. I know your pain! I have slept in the recliner for 4 nights. Can't get comfortable in bed. I just have to get thru that MRI!!. Good Luck!

Two of my patients have got spinal surgery in India. One was treeated for spondylolistheis by spinal fusion and the other for disc protrusion by microdiscectomy. Both of them are very happy with the results.Their pain and other symptoms due to nerve compression have totally gone.

Spinal Surgery is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges spine surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as spine surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website.

The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your spine surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.both my patients had gone to India through the forerunners healthcare company. The spinal fusion patient stayed in INdia for about 20 minutes and the microdiscectomy patient for about a week.hope this helps
