I tore the meniscus in my left knee back in 2000 while playing soccer, and I was not able to use my leg for a year and a half, however, it seems to be relatively healed now, because I can go jogging and my leg is fine (even though it still feels a bit loose sometimes). Should I still have my knee operated on? If I don't fix this problem, what other serious problems would I have later on?

I'd wait as long as you can, which means wait until you cannot enjoy the sports you love doing any longer or it interferes so much that you cannot be as competitive as you wish. I've had two surgeries on my knee and still play competitive volleyball. However, I cannot jog any longer, which is a drag since I went to college for track.

Hang in there . . . my doc did say that this type of injury is very manageable, it's not like cancer. Good luck!!
