Capitalism - it provides incentive for people to improve their situation, and in doing so, the rest of society. Socialism allows everyone to depend on someone else to do the work. There is no incentive to go beyond the minimum required.

If you appeal to a man's noble side, you won't get much. Appeal to his self interest, and he'll accomplish a whole lot more. Capitalism (with certain builtin safeguards) works a whole lot better.

PS: Go green!

Capitalism in that more wealth is generated and therefore more support can be given to the one who can develop his or her wealth. Also, countries benefit more through capitalism then through socialism. Globalization and free markets have pushed the US, China, India, Japan, South Korea, and others towards the position of being the most powerful in terms of economic strength and political will. Socialist countries, however, are being forced to open up more in order to compete and therefore on the verge of being extinct in a pure form.

Capitalism. Stuff won't get done without that invisible hand, be it a rifle or a big screen tv. I myself prefer the latter.
