Don't know where you live or how old the house is, but I can tell you that all houses settle, creak, groan and make a wide assortment of noises, which can be construed as creepy at times. If you have trees and small critters around, they can sometimes get into the walls and make scratchy noises as they move around. Can't ever remember anyone getting hurt by a red squirrel though. Turn on a fan, sometimes the noise conteracts other smaller noises and makes them seem less of a problem.

You might have spiders in your pillow or a snake under your bed. Don't turn your light out because things like mice and stinging ants come out at night. The mice won't hurt you but the ants want to crawl into your nose. Possibly you have a stalker or peeper hanging around under your window making the weird noise. Have you checked under your house for a possible dead body? If you've ever eaten in your room and dropped crumbs you're sure to have carpet mites and sometimes when they get hungry they move into your bedding. You could just have regular bed bugs. They can mulitply fast and you'll never see them until you have tons of them, look for their eggs. However it could just be a homeless guy that's found a place to hide in your house somewhere.

I hope these suggestions help calm your fears.

If you live alone, get a dog, they have the ability to scare off most ghostly things that are set on mischief. Walk around your house in the daylight, looking for bushes or tree branches that may be in contact with your house, they make really strange noises. Change the lighting in your house, if too bright, dim it, if too dim, brighten it, often times lights can play tricks with your tired eyes. Finally, if none of these things work, ask your local Catholic Church if they still perform Exorcisms.

You have to understand how ghosts think in order to connect with them mentally. Once you put out the vibes that you know how they think, then you can be in a more confident position to begin doing something that keeps them at bay. Believe in prayer. Prayer works. If you believe in ghosts, then you should easily be able to believe in prayer? right? ok. SO! Don't use holy water. Just say the "Our father prayer" and this little line of dialogue always helped me with noisy spirits. "Only the HOLY spirit is welcome here! All OTHER spirits must GO to the light!!!!" That should help. Spirits are afraid of the light, because they are afraid they will be judged immediately upon crossing over. They aren't ready to cross over yet, that's why they are still here. Also, if you call the holy spirit to the area, the ghosts will be push out by the holy spirit, or they will fear the holy spirits arrival and pretty much run for their lives. =) Hope that helps. I know this works, so use it.

My house is haunted by friendly ghosts. Perhaps they are just trying to be friendly? Most ghosts just want a friendly family to share the house with, so unles they are throwing things at you I'd give them a chance. I'm serious.

spend time with other people in the house and when you hear the noises, talk with the people and determine where the noises come from... doing this with good friends seems to help

Talk to the being that you think your house is haunted by. If it is a ghost and won't leave you alone, talk to it and tell it it's dead. Oftentimes if you speak to it, let it know its dead and to go to the light it will go and leave you alone.
