Well, this same question bugged me for ages. So, I did my science fair project on it. It takes different people different amounts of time/licks. I think that it's vastly important the salival pH and the form of the tongue and teeth of the licker.
Me: 789 licks to the center.
Licker 2: 560 licks to the center
Licker 3: 369 (but I think he cheated.)
Licker 4: 907 licks
