-4(3-x) = 2(x+6)
-12+4X=2X+12 use distributive property
-12+4x-2x=2x-2x+12 move the variable x onto 1 side
-12+12+2x=12+12 isolate the variable x
2x=24
(2x/2)=24/2
x=12

Multiply out the brackets:
-4(3-x) = 2(x+6)
-4(3-x) = 2x + 12
Transpose sides. Remember when you change sides of the "=" sign, the integer reverse, neg becomes pos etc.
-12 + 4x = 2x + 12
2x = 24
x = 12
insert value of x and solve
-4(3-12) = 2(12+6)
-12+48 = 24 + 12
36 = 36

The original equation:
  -4 ( 3 - x ) = 2 ( x + 6 )
  -12 + 4x = 2x + 12
Add 12 to both sides:
  4x = 2x + 12 + 12
  4x = 2x + 24
Subtract 2x from both sides:
  4x - 2x = 24
  2x = 24
Divide both sides by 2:
  x = 24 ÷ 2
  x = 12

-4(3 - x) = 2(x + 6) divide both sides by 2
-2(3 - x) = x + 6 multiply the -2 into (3 -x)
-6 - (-2x) = x + 6
-6 + 2x = x + 6 then it's easy
2x = x + 12
x = 12

It should be: -12 + 4x = 2x + 12
4x -2x =12 + 12
2x = 24
x = 24/2
x = 12!

-4(3-x)=2(x+6)
-12- -4x= 2x+12
-12-12- -4x= 2x+12 - 12
-24--4x = 2x
-24 = 6x
-4 = x
