i dont think he really is retired i guessed it all along that jay z is not gonna retire coz people like him never stop what do u think

he is retired in the sense that he had stopped releasing/producing albums for himself.
but his retirement didn't mean he'd stop doing what he loves to do: writing rhymes and producing music for other artists.
he's still active. very much active.
he produces for Rihanna, Ne-Yo ,Beyonce (of course), and a whole lot more.
he recently produced a song for and did a video with Beyonce. the song's called DE JA VU.
I know you know what it means, but for those who don't... de ja vu's a French word, which roughly means in English as the recognition of something that has already happened.
actually, to put it correctly, Jay-Z EXECUTIVE-PRODUCED the Fort Minor debut album (The Rising Tied).
and yeah, Jay-Z was at the Grammys this year... he performed with LP and Paul McCartney. and he's always where Beyonce is, hehe =D

he is not retired. he uses that label so he can make music at his own pace and make the kind he wants. He doesn't want people to say he is fading away or selling out so he chose to announce he was retired instead.

He is just so busy that he said that. He still drops lines on other celebs albums as he says to keep his skills polished. To me if your polishing anything it is always so you can use for another time.
