I agree that being able to answer this question would depend on which groups of Avengers and X-Men you're talking about. After all, heavyweights like Thor, Hercules and the Hulk used to be in the Avengers.
But, if I had to pick without knowing a specific roster, I'd still lean toward the Avengers. Overall the kinds of characters who join them tend to be more powerful than any average X-Man.

it really depends on which xmen versus`what avengers-if it's an xmen w/ dark phoenix all the avengers ever assembled would be no match-and personally i am pro-x-men.
