What could be causing the semi-sweet taste in your throat could be the change in the pH of your blood caused from quitting smoking. When you smoke, you breathe in a much higher level of carbon monoxide, this in turn would raise the acidity of your blood because CO2 needs to be replaced by the oxygen we breathe in. If there is a lack of oxygen available or in different forms(CO instead of O2) the CO2 will spend more time in the blood creating a carbonic acid build up. Of course the general way to tell if something is acidic or alkaline is by taste, sour means acidic and sweet means alkaline. So the semi-sweet taste could be caused by the sudden raise in alkalinity due to the lack of smoking.

Not sure. I quit I think 3 or 4 years ago so I can't remember if the same thing happened. Congratulations on quitting! If you haven't noticed yet, smokers stink (yes they do and even from far away), food taste better, and the extra energy's a plus. BTW- I call myself a nonsmoker instead of that I quit smoking. It's just mind play that if you quit something it can be started again.

First, congratulations on quitting! I understand it is harder to quit smoking than to quit a heroin addiction. Second, my guess is that your taste buds are growing back! Congratulations again!

Not sure, but most likely, it's been there all along and it's just now you're noticing since your sense of taste (and smell) have returned.
