can i open an acoount with them so i can do real time trades with them...and if so its a regular account?or like a margin account or something else...

I have scottrade. 7 dollars are for real time trades. the sucky thing about scottrade is now when you want to deposit more money into your account, you cant do it electronically over the internet from your bank account directly to scottrade, you have to either mail them a check or go to a scottrade office

I have Scottrade & love it. Scottrade is ideally for experianced traders. There is very little support there (experianced traders don't need much). Yes... Scottrade is "real time" (odd question).

Go to Schwab or Fidelity Investments after you read a couple of good books on investing.

Never invest in anything you don't understand! Don't use margin till after a few years of trading.

$7 for buy or sell orders. It doesn't matter what kind of account you have. The price is just for stocks. Options trading is flat fee of $7 plus $1.25 per contract. Buying mutual funds vary in cost.
