I already have the demo versions of both MM and TM and neither demo allows results to be imported.

There is a demo copy of Meet Manager and Team Manager available from Hy-Tek at http://www.hy-tekltd.com/downloads.html that you can install and download for free.

If you can't open the file in MM or TM demo versions, ask the sender to export as a spreadsheet file or as a MS Word file, if you have Word.
Right now you should be able to simply open the file using these programs, but it will be harder to read if it is not in this format.

Get someone to mail it to you. Then download the free reader. To save, copy and paste to a word file if it will let you.

Talk to your LSC about joining swimconnection.com. It is AWESOME!!!

Every meet your team goes to is posted (as long as the hosting team sends in results) - you can get all of your best times, categorize them by meet, by age, by long course or short course . . . they email you (as a swimmer, or coach, or even parent!) with new meet results as soon as they come out. The best tool I've ever found.

Also, it keeps a record of your fastest times, so your swimmers don't have any excuse for not entering their real times at meets!
