Sorry, is there a question somewhere in there? Or just a raging commentary? Yeah, I thought so.

You are very accurate in what you speak of. However, realize that words can have separate meanings. Americans can have a broad and a specific meaning. It is not meant to be arrogant as if USA citizens are the only Americans. We fully recognize that N. and S. Americans are Americans as well. But over time the world has come to recognize a specific meaning behind the word Americans to mean those from the USA. Most likely just a way to refer to United States of America Citizens in a shorter word - Americans.
I am interested in what you would call a person from teh USA without having to say 'a person from the USA' or 'a United States of America person' or 'a USAn'
again it just is easier to say and doesn't hold any amount of arrogance or superiority.

Who are you telling to get outta here?
I am from a certain country. You might have heard of it. It's called Canada. We are not american. We did not call ourselves the United states---your country did...we are called Canada so we are Canadian. Get used to it.
The United States of America calls itself "the superpower" and " the best country in the world". Well, isn't that pompous and condescending. We've seen what you have to offer ...many of us are not impressed. Even some Americans are not impressed. They are ashamed of their own country. Show us something other than warfare. Show us that your government with all it's billions of dollars can come up with another solution then going to war. If the USA wishes other countries to follow suit and wishes for more friends, it would do well to remember, "In the end, it's the kindness that counts."

The Americas (plural) refers to the landmasses and islands of North America, Central America, and South America.
America (singular) refers to the United States only, as a shortened version of the United States of America.
Because of this, the word American has evolved to mean a citizen of the United States of America.

North America and South America are continents ...Sure.
Canadians certainly live in North America but Canada doesn't have America incorporated in the name of their Country.
America is part of our country's name ...What's the problem here?

Victoria you are an idiot
"The United States of America calls itself "the superpower" "
umm no the rest of the world calls us that. WhY? because we are a superpower. HOw is this pompus? Its what we are by definition. We evolved from the major power status and now are a superpower. ANd since when did the US brag about it? It is canadians and europeans who called us that.
"and " the best country in the world". Well, isn't that pompous and condescending"
Yeah, I've seen plenty of canadians saying how great canada is. iTs called taking pride in one's country. A soccor team is going to say "We're the best team ever!" Its called pride and self-respect.
" They are ashamed of their own country."
You mean like the french canadians that don't even want to be apart of canada anymore? Yeah we have national pride issuess *rollesyes*
"Show us something other than warfare. Show us that your government with all it's billions of dollars can come up with another solution then going to war."
How was liberating the people of iraq from an oppressive dictator bad?
" If the USA wishes other countries to follow suit and wishes for more friends, it would do well to remember, "In the end, it's the kindness that counts." "
The Europeans will hate america no matter what and you know this. Ever since ww2 (after america saved them) they hated us. They are jealous and it is very obvious. When Jacque Chirac of France says something like "I look what america does, then I do the opposite", i think there is no chance of a good relationship with european nations (besides the UK).

But your still a dumb ***, because in you other questions, when you refer to people from the USA.....you refer to them as Americans.
Can you really be this stupid?

UUUUHHHHH, let me think. "U.S.A." is what we're talking about isn't it? Short for "United States of America." Since when were those other COUNTRIES considered to be states? Because the country is the United States of AMERICA the citizens are called Americans. Those that live in Canada are Canadians, Mexico are Mexicans, Argentina are Argentinians and Brazil is Brazilians. See the trend? Just add ans to the end of the bleeding country. duh.

In the United States of America, we call ourselves American!
And, the rest of the world only thinks of us, when they hear American.
There are no South Americans who want to be referred to as South American; or any other subset of American. They prefer to be recognized as Argentinian and Panamanian and Peruvian...etc. Rightly so. Your statement that they be lumped together as Americans is offensive and degrades their unique, individual cultures and countries.
Americans are only USA!
