First of all, being a nerd and/or a geek is NOT a bad thing! I where my geek badge proudly, and so do many people I know.
To answer your question, no, not everyone who reads Harry Potter is a nerd, at least not in the stereotypical sense. That's the beauty of Harry Potter. The books are read by middle-aged house-wives, actors, the popular kids, gangsta rappers, and everyone in between. It's a universal phenomena.
Though I do notice a certain correlation between those who are smart, and those who read Harry Potter. :)

That is such a big stereotype I'm reading the fourth harry potter book and I'm 100% sure that I'm not a nerd or childlike. I think people who read J.K. books simply enjoy reading good literature.

JK Rowling books? What has she written other than Harry Potter? I personally hate her, she's not a good author at all. I read the first four books, at first I liked them, but then I noticed many many mistakes there. After reading the Goblet of Fire I was totally disgusted at the amount of violence the book contained- and they say it's not good for kids if they listen to rap music!!! When number 5 was out and I learned that Sirius Black (my most favourite character), dies, I knew I would never touch an HP book again. And this comes from a country that gave world Shakespeare, Dickens, Byron, Agatha Christie....There must be a crisis in literature!

Depends on the person. Some may be nerds, some may be childlike, and some may even be something else. I read the Harry Potter books, and after all, I'm a comedian. All depends.

Nope. I love the Harry Potter series. It doesn't make you childlike. Everyone is entitled to reading what they like. I think people who read J.K. Rowling's books are adventurous and enjoy fantasy novels. The books are good for all ages.

I think nothing. All sorts of people read those books (myself included). Some are nerds, some are childlike, some ARE children, some are none of the above. All I can say is they are all people who more or less know how to read.

No, I don't really think that is true. It's more of a stereotype than anything.
You don't have to be a nerd to enjoy good literature. I know some people at my high school that have read all the Harry Potter books and they certainly aren't nerds.
I can't speak for everybody, but these are just my opinions.

Certainly not!! I think children and adults alike, should be comended for setting aside the time to indulge in such fabulous imagination and magic!! If others do think it 'nerdy' to read Harry Potter, then HOORAY for being a nerd!!! Actually, I wonder if those who do think it nerdy to read the books, think the same about watching the Harry Potter films?? There's another question for u 2 use!!

It doesn't matter what people think of you especially from what books you read. I'm a 31 year old woman and some of my favorite books range from The Monster at the End of this Book (Sesame Street), The Mouse and His Child, to books from Robin Cook and I like some of Henry Denker, too. If you like J.K Rowling, by all means read her books.

i am 23 and i just started reading the harry potter books because i hated the movies and tried the books just in case they are better and indeed i loved them. i dont see how reading a book, any book, turns you automatically into something at all..nerd or whatever. i like the books a lot, i think they are well written, the author promotes friendship, courage and bonds between people and i would suggest anyone to read them!
