I’m African-American, and I’m looking for a make up product that will give me good, even tone coverage. I heard that Bare Escentuals is excellent even for my skin. I wanted to know if any other African-American women have used it and what they thought about it. If there are any sisters who use a different type of make up, and you really like it, could you let me know?

Hey (not a "Sista") (I filled in for Fashion Faire sales in cosmetics during counter girls pregnancy) But I just bought Bare Minerals for the first time.

I recommend buying it at a store like Sephora or Ulta cosmetics. I paid $25.00 for the powder foundation. It has a flawless, maximum coverage with a light feel. It comes in several shades, unlike what you get in the starter kit you see on TV for a lot more $. In the stores, you get to sample all the various shades to match your skin tone exactly. I have oily skin and am very happy with the result.

Did you know.... that Lorel just came out with the same thing {same ingredients and everything PLUS its own brush}? It comes in all skin color shades and is available at Walgreens for $12.00.

Have you ever tried Naomi Simms (for women of color) or MAC products?

I love Bare Escentuals mineral make up also. Once you try it, you won't want to go back to that thick and sticky liquid make up. It feels great on your skin, looks natural, has sun screen in it, and is so good for your skin that you can sleep in it! I love all their products! You can get samples to try at www.colorfulsprinkles.com

Im not African American but I use it and love it. I was a little leary at first thinking it was just powder, but ...it is not. I would suggest trying it because:
1. it has great coverage
2. its great for your skin - they say you can even sleep in it and wont cause breakouts.
3. they have many shades for darker skin to choose from
4. its very forgiving and you wont see a line of demarkation at your jaw
5. Its very easy to use
6. the initial kit you get gives you two colors to experiment with :

Good luck!

I have not heard bad things about Bare Essentials. I would give it a try if it is appealing to you! You may end up totally loving it, but you won't know unless you give it a shot. If they have a make up counter anywhere, go test it out!

I absolutely love BE. It is my favorite make-up. A little pricey but the best deals are on QVC especially on one of there "days of beauty". Go for it. It is easy to use. Can't mess it up and lasts a long time.

http//www.arbonne.com has mineral powder also, now, and they have a base for dark colored skin that evens out blotches. A friend of mine tried it and she was impressed because it removed a burn scar on her nose. It is in the "About Face" line.
