yes. there is a huge difference. and it shouldn't be labeled in style because its a life style that you end up in one way or another.
sounds like a poser.

but, i'll be nice so. she's more of a new age preppy poser

emos cry alot and listen to hawthorn heights and still call you 10 months after you broke up with them

goth. well. i prefer the term death rocker but i hate labels. still, i have to call it something. i'd ask TypeANegative for the best answer. she's got her definition down that seems head on.

new age=poser of all types

punk is something different for everyone. i'm so tired of everyone trying to define it. here's the best example i think

a guy walks up to me and asks "Whats punk"
i kick over a trash can and say "thats punk"
he kicks over a trash can and says,"thats punk?"
i say "NO! thats trendy"

you get the picture. have your friend go shopping with you so she can pick out what she likes. malls aren't punk rock. conformations no punk rock. trends are not punk rock. radio is not punk rock. hottopic is not punk rock. ashly simpson, the avril chick girl, greenday, simple plan, gay charrolette and any other want to be trend band with tattoos and nysc boy band voices are not punk rock.

there is no prep in punk.

punk rock bands you might ask. well:
The Adolescents
The Addicts
Bad Brains
Bad Religion
Cake
The Cramps
Circle Jerks
The Clash
The Cult(in one of there phases i suppose)
Iggy Pop and The Stooges
Sex Pistols
Misfits
The Ramones
those, as far as well know punk bands

punk, a DIY way and a f**k off attitude

She doesn't need a label, you do. She's happy with what she is.
