from my understanding about your question, it means that you have also inserted a new hard disk into the computer besides having the new external hard disk plugged into the computer.

if this is the case, then the computer should show the new and old hard disk and another hard disk as its a total of 3 hard disk. then also do take note that if the old hard disk had partitions, then u will see the 1st 3 sets of alphabets of the hard disk relevant to the partitions you have created. (which ever is relevant).
the next thing is the " MY Book " inside have any parititions or not. basically when u have inserted an extra hard disk into the computer ( excluding the "My Book") you should see the old hard disk and the new hard disk. then secondly you will also see the hard disk in the overall.

the next thing regarding to the new disc that you have inserted , look again. it should be in the Optical drive. the icon in the My Computer is very different. which unless means that you actually refering to the hard disk and not a disc then its actually the above answer.

hope this wil be helpful to you.

Right click on the drive and select properties. You should be able to change/remove them from there.
