I had a dr appt for a physicial with a new dr and was asked to undress totally. I had never been told to get naked at the dr before. I was naked for the whole appt. I have a follow up appt and was curious if that was normal or not so I know what to expect.

well, being naked for a physical exam is not a wrong thing. it is because the doctor will need to check every part of the body. if its a female doctor , it will naturally cause some discomfort because it might be embarassing for you but look it at a positive view. its just a health check. the doctor would have seen many times already so its alright. if it is a male doctor , it is also the same. so do not worry too much. it is a normal thing because the purpose to go to see the doctor is to have a physical exam. nothing else should be the problem. if you however find that there is something wrong with the doctor, do not go back to see the doctor and change to another doctor.

yes it is normal. Especially if you are a new patient or if you are a patient that has grown a lot. He may have been you doctor as a boy and now you are maturing. The follow up will probably not require you to get naked.

general patient care suggests to keep the patient covered as much as possible, and only to expose the area that is being examined.

It is widely accepted to give the patient a johnny (dressing gown) or paper gown to wear during the exam. If you're uncomfortable, you should say something at the office the next time you're there, or if it really bothered you, then call and make a complaint

It's normal. Of course you have a teenager's mind, and after everything parents tell kids about the 'private parts' one feels uncomfortable the first times. Grow up and begin to see life as an adult.
