What are you doing with your horse? If he's getting good quality grain, supplement and hay they probably aren't necessary. They do make a good occasional treat though if your horse likes them (not all do). I made some treats of hay cubes drizzled in honey or mollasses then sprinkled with sweet feed - messy but the horse LOVED them! (and it beat the heck out of the little bags of treats for $8) As a regular feed item probably isn't necessary from what it sounds like

It is a treat. a lot of people (including the owners of the place i board at) mix hay and alfalfa, just to get more flavor and a little easier chewing and digesting. I would say if its worth it for buying depends on how you keep your horses. If they are in a stall, it may be great for them to have another change, to liven up their diets a little bit, like a surprise every week or so... if theyre in pasture, they dont really need grain.....and they wouldnt really need alfalfa, but again, you can mix it with the hay you throw out....
try it, see how your horse likes it and reacts to it physically, and depending on the results, continue, or stop. :)

If your horse has hay and grain thats all he needs with the acception of proformance mix if needed. I feed soaked down hay cubes for about a week with the normal hay feeding only before I rodeo on a short trip to cut down on the hay hauling. Hay cubes are for senior horses and are to be soaked in water.

We mix bales of alfalfa in with hay for feeding, but if you buy baled alfalfa make sure the bale is from the second cut! Very important, dont ever buy bales from the first cut or harvest!!!! Grain should be used as a treat.... Why the supplement? Do your horses not have pasture to graze on? or do they have bad hoofs? HMMM

Since you have access to hay you do not need to feed cubes.
They are given to older horses who can not chew up hay or if you live in area where you can not get hay.
Then they feed them instead.
Since you have hay that is the best for your horse.
