Just check is there is something in the Fan went, even a small pice of dust can make a difference, You can try cleaning it up if you are confident about it or better take it to a PC Doctor or call the support.

I have been using laptop for many years and according to my experience I am almost 100% sure that, 'whir-ing' noise does not come from the fan. If that 'whir-ing' noise is a lot louder than the normal fan noise (I'm sure it is), it is comes from the hard drive. It is a sign that your hard drive is not in a good shape or about to fail. If I were you I would immediately copy all the important data from the laptop to another place or burn it to a CD. Then you should replace your hard drive or have some one look at it.

Whatever you do, I strongly recommand that you copy all the important files to a safe loaction. Better safe than sorry.

U have a fan that's on the CPU (Processor) that idles and kicks on at the same time as the Processor heats up. that's favourite and that i does no longer recommend disconnecting this. that's necessary to kick back off the processor. If the noise is extremely bugging you, then you definately might want to look at getting yet another CPU fan that makes a lot less noise,, reason i'm no longer optimistic what Acer makes use of for thier followers,,,yet there are more advantageous ones obtainable. For this you would favor to confirm the CPU fan length and order or purchase one @ an same length. Being that the laptop is new??properly???? then the Fan should not be going undesirable, or you may want to take this laptop decrease back and replace for yet another one

A little noise is usually normal but you might try compressed air. You can get a can at most places they sell computers (Best Buy, etc.) Just spray it into your fan to clear out any dust and maybe that'll help.

Also most laptop fans are on the bottom so when it makes that noise try lifting it up to help the outward airflow. When you place it on your lap the airflow can get blocked restricting the cooling system thus making the fan work harder (and louder).

Hope that helps.

there are a few possibilities.

1st it can means that the internal fan is giving you problem

2nd the hard disk performance is droping and its the hard disk that giving you problem due to the hard disk having too much bad sector which willl lead to the hard disk spinning difficulty. (this means to change a new hard disk)

3rd it can also be the internal is giving alot of hard ware down time.

therefore a good suggestion will be bring it to the company to have it test out and diagnose. this way if its really problem that they found., they can solve it for you. If the warranty expires then maybe can consider letting it be run test and at least know the specific problem and then you can make another further detailed consideration on what to do next.

The fan may be off balance, or failing.
