A weekend is actually a good time span for a 15 year old. Any longer than that and they'll probably start to sneak out and rebel. Sometimes too though, it depends on what they're being grounded for.

i have a younger sister who needs to be grounded FOR LIFE. but i dont really know what to tell ya. i didnt get grounded at all for anything. i wasnt the perfect child by any means but i think i turned out just fine. as long as she is not drinking or doing drugs then you dont really need to ground them at all. just dont buy them so many cloths, dont let them have their cell phone or something. just remember that most of you grew up during the 60s and 70s. give the kids a little room.

grounding a teenager is not always the answer .at this point they are learning social skills that they will use as adults.if you ground them is this time you might hinder that development.other chores and stuff she does not like to do might be the answer. screw up you have to go to volunteer at the SPCA or a soup kitchen for a day. try this

that sounds like a recent punishment. I am 17 and when I get restricted, the punishments are short and harsh. I think that they are more effective that way. I once had to write an essay and I think that was the most effective of all.
Hope I helped you some

I think a week-end is typical. You may also be candid and say that her grounding can inconvience you and choose other consequences easier on you, like her doing household chores, cutting down on allowance, etc...
