the question just says occupy. It does not ask if we can live on the moon w/o shipments from earth. We have people living in space on the space station, why cant we build a permanent structure on the moon?

Of course we cannot live on the moon like we do here, since it IS a moon...but we should probably build on the moon in the next century. If we ever travel further, we will need to have a refuel station. From what I know I it takes ALOT of fuel just to make it to the moon. but after you get out of our atmosphere it's alot easier to go further.

Thge moon has no oxygen, and no atmosphere, meaning we would have to build underground for protection. We couldn't view it, since at the surface, there would be mining equitpent mainly, if anything. And It would have to be about the Size of Los Angeles to be seen from Earth. So in the future, maybe. But not for a long time.

Since we are all guessing, I think we will probably have a permanent presence on the Moon by the end of this Century and almost certainly by A.D. 2200. If man blows himself, and most of planet Earth, up in the next few decades, all bets are off...

its been thought over many times, but probably not in our life time. the simple necessities need for humans to survive are not available on the moon and yeah.

Oh, gee, I believe they will. If given the chance I know at least 25,000 people who would go to stay. It's our best bet to expand humanity to the stars.

Probably not, there is no oxygen on the moon. So, not in our lifetime. Maybe someday.
