The difference is in the microprocessors and how they handle data. It would be like how we read. Pc's handle data left to right. Macs handle data right to left, that is why they are not compatable. Although, there are new intel chips out for the mac. Another thing is that macs cost double a pc and macs have less programs written for them. Pc's have more viruses, but that is because there are sooo many more pc users. While it may have been true years ago, it is no longer true that macs are better graphically. You can get the same programs, pagemaker, quark, flash, etc. for both. I personally think mac users buy them because 1) they come in pretty colors 2)Apple has marketed to these people in a way that makes them feel like they are part of a select group of cool/hip people, when in reality, they just paid more for a computer. If you want to update your windows, you can download the updates for free from microsoft. If you want to update your mac os, you have to pay. If your pc breaks, you can take it to just about anyone, possibly even your friend may know how to fix it. If your mac breaks, good luck finding a tech that can fix it. You will be on the phone with apple for a long time and you better hope your support didn't run out or your paying $50 an hour just for phone support. You can find great deals on PC's because anyone can make a pc (acer, IBM, DELL, Gateway)which leads to competition. Only Apple makes Apple's, which puts you at their mercy for prices.

It matters what you are trying to do with it. If you are trying to run files that are used only on Macs, then most likely a PC won't do it. There are 1000's of times more programs for PC then there are for macs. Personally I would say that PC's are better in any respect over a Mac. Macs do have some very nice programs for publishing and journalism people.

Mac? LOL! Macs wont run 80 percent of the software on the market for one thing! I get a chuckle out of people who make the statement that their mac never crashes! Its probably true due to the fact that it wont run anything! Thats like their Ipod line....gotta have their own music file format! You cant transfer files or music without their software! What a joke!

I think with the right knowledge, yes, but macs are designed for producing a wide variety of art and PCs are designed to be versatile.

Watch the Touchè commercial that Apple has made, this will answer you question. MAC can do anything PCs can but PCs can't do everything that MACs can do.
