You are right, she is 22 and she can take care of herself. Its seems like ya married very young and she was not ready. Myself is going through something similar, I am 25, however I have been married for 7 years and have two kids. Alimony has not crossed my lips. Child support at a reasonable rate is something different.
Do your research, talk to a lawyer and state your case. I believe that 3 yrs is not long enough, however if she did not work because YOU did not want her too, then you might be in trouble.

They don't call it alimony any more it's called spousal support. And if she did not work while you were married and it was OK by you then most of the time they will get an amount for a while. She was accustomed to that life style during the marriage and the court takes that into concentration. Makes you think twice about a non working partner doesn't it. Well just chalk it up to experiences and learn from it. Good luck.

Years ago women took care of the home and family, she didn't have an outside job so she didn't have any job skills. Alimony was so that she could take care of herself.....kinda like severance pay. Very seldom are women awarded alimony now. You wife can ask for alimony but unless she's incapable of working she'll get ZERO. So stop worrying.

State of IL, MI, IN, and I think OH too, you have to be married at least 7 years to get alimony. And even then, you'd pay half that term for a specified amount, not %age.
Get a lawyer, you'll be able to get it all and leave her in the cold as she desires to do to you!

In most states, alimony is only available in a long term marriage. "Long term" means different things in different places, but I am willing to be 3 years is not
"long term" anywhere.

Alimony is for people , during a divorce, who have stayed at home, watched your kids, cleaned your house, washed your dirty, stanky drawers, etc.She was married to you and put up with you and deserves to get what she put in.She didn't get paid to do all those things, all those years, so now she will.Give it to her and then go on with your life. You wanted a divorce, now you got one.But at what price????That's why we take vows and are suppose to mean them, huh????
