yea it depends on your teacher, in highschool none of my teachers made us use citations, but in college they make you know every single citation technique for every type of source.

While some teachers may not notice or care, if anyone does notice you have copied pictures without giving credit, you will be found guilty of plagiarism. In Britain, there was a case of a university student who was found out a week before graduation, and expelled without being allowed to graduate.
High schools are commonly less strict, and may simply give you a poor grade, or a few nights' detention. However, if this gets into your record, it could affect your chances of getting into a college, or getting a good job.
It is not that much work to just credit your source, and you have too much to lose if you don't; it is always a good idea to make a note of your sources. What if while working on your assignment, you notice you need to go back and clarify a point? So when you copy a picture, type a caption something like "Photo courtesy of: " and cut and paste the URL of the site you got it from. To really impress your teacher, add the name of the web site, before or after the URL, and the date you accessed it.

It _is_ plagiarism (strictly speaking) _if_ the pics are copyrighted (no matter what level of school you're in).

Why not just treat everything as copyrighted, and quote a source for everything you pluck from the internet? Sometimes even _that_ isn't enough: Someone has "stolen" a pic and posts it on the net illegally. even though it is copyrighted... This _is_ against the law. So things posted on the net might be there for you to pick up, but you're doing so illegally. This might be true even if you can't "see" a copyright mark! Images have been created by someone or by some company of people; so just treat everything as copyrighted.

A photographer owns the copyright to an image _automatically_ at the very moment the image is captured on his film or on his digital camera's sensor. This is the law, recognised world-wide (where laws are respected).

Even "sourcing" a pic might be illegal, but at least you are giving credit where it is due...

Plagiarism is not really the issue. The issue is what is high school for? It should be teaching you how to properly do stuff. Right? It is no big deal to give credit for a pic. But it teaches you to be organized and keep good research notes. that is what you should be doing, learning how to keep track of your sources. It is a good habit to have, and how are you going to get it if you never practice it? Knowing about 'how something is done' is a lot different than actually 'doing it' and learning how to 'do it well.'
So, in my opinion, learn how to be the best student you can be, and raise your ideals as high as you can. Society is full of people who try to do the least that they can get away with. Who do you want to be like? The laziest, or the best? You choose.

Every time you use ideas or information that are not yours (ideas that you came up with) you must give the source. There are teachers who can fail you if they find out that you took that information from somewhere and you didn't give the source.
Yes, it is considered plagiarism. I am a teacher, and I encourage my students to have the courage to express their own ideas and beliefs, to sustain them with strong arguments.

Yes, any information that isn't your own work that you use in a paper has to be sourced. You should do it now because if a teacher wants to hurt your grade, that's the easiest way to do it. Plus, you HAVE to in college

It's not plagiarism because you're not claiming them and it would be clear they're not yours, but in high school, typically, you should be citing your sources. It's part of a properly written project.

I don't know.

Plagerism is when somebody steals somebody's written item and uses it for their own without permission. In your case, list the sources just in case.

Yes, you do have to cite them. Pictures are intellectual property the same as words and if you use them you should say where you got them.
