But I like watching all those crappy little weeds on the median. I also like to be really close to the highway patrol to make sure they track me with their radar and give me a ticket.

Look, Its an epidemic. I run across people who do this in Ga., Va., and other states. When you pass them on the right they look at you as if your wrong...that look, "yea, what about it. They must not have taken a driving course or read the manual. The left lane is for passing, the middle lane is for cruising and the right lane is for mopeing. Either lead, follow or get off the road. That was on a bumper sticker I saw in 1979. Im pretty sure its right on because there are people who shouldn't be on the road especially the ones from other countries who don't know anything about "american driving".

There's no such thing as a "fast lane" in the Capital region...there's only slow, slower and parking lot! 3 to 4 hours commuting time daily and I only live 65 miles from work. That's 15 to 20 hours a week staring at a sea of brake lights! I swear, in the early morning (before sunrise) the stream of tailights winding their way towards DC looks like a reverse lava flow!

From my limited driving experience in the U.S., people choose a lane, alas usually the fast one, and just cruise. I found it very annoying.

In Europe, the passing lane system is much more ingrained. You wouldn't survive for 2 minutes in Italy or Germany if you hogged the left lane (or even if your overtaking was too slow).

I dirve in the fast lane (which isn't the fast lane, it is the passing lane) when passing.
