She should try to eat a couple of crackers or some dry toast to see if that settles her stomach.

Forget the teas and the herbal remedies, don't listen to the crap!
They can cause stomach cramps.
She is pregnant! And not just nauseous.
She has morning sickness plain and simple and it will fade in time. Do the soda cracker thing that all the smarter ones on here are telling you about to get over the initial feeling.
A little TLC from YOU, a pint of Ben and Jerry's and she will be just fine.
Tell the doctor about the nausea on her next visit.
The only WARNING here is that if she "actually" vomits several times then seek medical attention immediately! It could be signs of fetal distress or preeclampsia. And could lead to dehydration due to fluid loss. Not good for Mommy or baby.
Also note any "odor" intolerance. The strangest things can cause involuntary stomach reflux. The smell of tuna, detergents, after shave and highly scented colognes/perfumes.
I also want to commend YOU as a Husband and Father for getting on here and asking a real question of concern for the health and well being of your wife and child.
Kudos to YOU.
And congratulations..................

It's probably morning sickness, sooner or later she's going to have to eat something........LOL
Try to avoid foods and smells that trigger your nausea. If that seems like almost everything, it's okay to just eat the few things that do appeal to you for this part of your pregnancy.
• Keep simple snacks, such as crackers, by your bed. When you first wake up, nibble a few crackers and then rest for 20 to 30 minutes before getting out of bed. Snacking on crackers may also help you feel better if you wake up feeling nauseated in the middle of the night.
• Eat small, frequent meals or snacks throughout the day so that your stomach is never empty.
• Try to avoid fatty/spicy foods, which take longer to digest.
• Try drinking fluids primarily between meals. And try not to drink so much at once that your stomach feels full, as that will make you less hungry for food. If you've been vomiting a lot, try a sports drink (gatorade & mix it with a little sugar) that contains glucose, salt, and potassium to replace lost electrolytes.
• Relax and take naps.
• Try taking prenatal vitamins with food or just before bed.
Good Luck!

I learned very quick to keep crackers on the headboard because if I didn't eat before stepping foot on the carpet I was sick for most of the day. That was only for the first 12 weeks, after that I put myself on a schedule, sort of like you will do with your child. Breakfast within 1 hour of waking up, fruit and sourdough pretzels for snack about 2 hours later, light lunch, healthy snack, dinner, treat. It seems like alot but if you eat right you will actually keep your metabolism on track and you wont gain too much weight. I stayed away from fast food, it made me sick everytime. I was a dairy queen junkie though!

The reason she probably feels sick is because her stomach is rebelling against her swallowing spit on an empty stomach while pregnant. She can either settle her stomach with some crackers and then eat a real meal. Or if she has eaten, chew some gum, a flavor she likes, to make the spit less repulsive to her stomach.

all good answers, yes she has to eat ,Baby needs Food. My daughter is just as far as your wife , with her second child. So good Luck. Oh and don't forget if she feels really sick Ginger Ale is the best. Or have her suck on a little sugar covered ginger. Its the best and good for the stomach. But eat lots of Fruit and you will be fine.

some of my friends felt better after eating something. My friend used to carry around snacks like carrots and raisins in her purse. Also-check out MarliLu henner's book from when she was pregnant. She claimed the the sickness (which doesn't always come int he morning) is a luck of minerals like potassium, so she used to take her vitamins and things before she went to bed rather than when she woke up.

That would be morning sickness. Don't people ever research anything anymore? Apparently not. Seems to me that people are just goin and doin whatever the fudge they feel like. INCLUDING BEING STUPID! You should have read more before getting her pregnant. And if she didn't even know it's morning sickness...that child is doomed for a life with stupid know nothing parents!

Try some plain dry toast. It is gross but it did wonders for me and everyone that I tell to do it said it helped them too. If she feels sick, then that's a good sign that the pregnancy is going well. I know that doesn't help much but I try to find something good out of everything.

Don't panic if she eats a little less right now -- her doc should be weighing her and watching that she gains enough. The morning-sickness phase usually ends around 16 weeks, and after that she'll be fine.
