President Bush says the soldiers are there to help rebuild Iraq.

I think different because helping to rebuild doesn't require the helpers dead and the helpers dying and the helpers still pulling the trigger on stupid guns. Nobody should be at risk at dying, so I wish all soldiers could be home now.

But Bush also exclaimed months ago of how having soldiers over at Iraq will keep America safe, but that means the soldiers would always have to be there because America always has to be safe. It's quite complicated and sad...

First I'm sorry for the loss of your friend, no war or conflict is ever easy and therefore war should be entered into very carefully and for very good reasons. The reasons people say we went to Iraq are many but the ultimate reason was started on September 11, 2001. If that attack had not happened I don't feel we would have gone into Iraq at all but that was a "reason" that was used, to fight terrorism on foreign lands rather than wait for it to come to us again. Why stay? For one if we pulled out the Army/Police of Iraq is not strong enough to withstand the asault that would come from several sides and essentially the country would fail before it got started. We are able to get out when the Iraq Army / Police are able to do all the fighting and are strong enough to survive on their own and keep their infant government from being overthrown. How long will that take? Realize that we still have troops in Germany, Japan, and Korea and still maintain bases. I don't think Iraq will keep US troops. Another reason we stay is that many people there put their faith in our word that we will stay and protect their infant democracy and protect the people that have stood up and voted for a free democracy. True it's politics but keeping your word is important for us to be taken seriously in the future with anyone else.

Last no death is tollerable, it's all horrible but compared to other conflicts the number killed is low. It wasn't anything to lose the total number of soldiers killed in Iraq in one battle of World War II or a couple of battles in Vietnam. Although it's safer today for our troops we all want them to come home and don't want to hear about anyone dying. Just remember that in one day, in September more than all the soldiers in Iraq that have been killed, more than 3000 Innocent, women, men, children died because a handfull of radical Islam members decided that they would use innocent people on Airplanes to take down fully loaded buildings in New York and other government buildings in Washington. IF they had their way YOU, I, and everyone else in America would either be beheaded or swear allegence to Allah and the Islam religion. To say no would mean you would die. That is the type of people that want to destroy America. Are they in Iraq? Some are but sometimes you have to do something horrible to keep evil people from taking away what each of us take for granted. People don't like it when Christians talk about Jesus but at least we have freedom. If Islam ruled the world then people would be beheaded for talking bad about Allah or Mohammad or the Religion of Islam. Not all Islam is bad but many are mislead by religion and war will happen either here or there. I don't think your friend died in vain.

Sure I'll try. I've been in combat & lost several friends in this war as well as previously. I know it's painful, but that's what it takes to be a democracy. I know you're looking at us fightin overseas & asking what that has to do with us being a democracy here at home, and the answer is everything. If you are a free country you owe it to everyone else in teh world to liberate them from tyranny when they can't do it for themselves. You should feel proud of your friend for sacrificing so much to give such a great thing to such oppressed people.

If you want to know why we're there now & why we won't leave till it's over, I'll do my best to tell you. We need to plant a successful democracy in the heart of the middle east. After they can defend themselves we'll leave, and then their democracy will grow big & strong with freedoms that no one else in the muslim world has. When that happens, muslims in othe rcountries are going to get mad at their governments for not granting them those rights & they are going to force them to reform &/or become democracies also. Right now those people don't know what it is to be free & they never will if we don't show them. The Islamic extremists that attacked us on 9/11 are an evil cult as bad as th eNazis were in WWII, and they can only survive as long as the muslim world is kept from freedom, kept in economic depression while their leaders get rich, kept from proper education, kept under laws that treat women like animals & property. We can't defeat the idea of Islamic extremists, but we can change the culture that supports them from the inside out, and that's why we're in Iraq.

I'm sorry for your loss byt the way. If there's anything I can do, or of you need a referal to someone that can help you, please feel free to message me at any time.

I was speaking with a very conservative friend of mine who also just happens to be a lt. col. in the Army. He was against the war as well because he said these things usually take about a decade.

Nobody thinks taking out Saddam was a bad thing, the only problem is the exit strategy. Obviously the Bush administration did not think this one through.

Yes, Bush has allowed many good young men and women to be murdered over there in Iraq. I am so sorry to hear that one was your friend.

You ask when will it be over...it won't for a long time I am afraid. not until Bush has accomplished his goals there in the USA. He has to keep those whom are his superiors happy. (The Illuminati)

If you would like to know more of the truth about why the USA is in Iraq please go to the following web site and you will see a video window. give it a chance to load then watch it in its entirety it will explain why it will be a long time until the USA troops are sent home.

Here is the site and please watch and listen to it all. Then if you wish email me and tell me what you think. Same for anyone else as well.

No. It doesn't matter how things go over there, our military will still have roles in Iraq. It's just how things happen. As long as our government doesn't have to worry about their families being destroyed because of the lose of someone they love, they will still start petty wars. All we can do is pray for the safety of those we love and pray for some better leaders.

We are in Iraq, to help rebuild their nation. We cannot leave until they are stable enough to take care of themselves.

I have a nephew and 3 cousins there, 3 of which are on their second tour. They belive in their cause and keep telling us that they NEED to be there.

Please don't believe the media hype. Our Marines and soldiers know that their mission is vital.

we want Iraq to be a strong Democracy before we pull and run. Their government is getting stronger everyday. People without laws are savages. even in AMERICA. why were all the guns stolen before food in katrina? the guns were stolen first. then, they were shooting at the red cross. that was in OUR country for 3 days with no law. as soon as the guys in green showed up everyone stopped. that was one city in our country. Iraq is like a lot of New orleans.

I am so sorry for all your pain and i feel so bad for you. I wish that right this moment that the war stop. Its all because of our stupid president George bush. He is only in the war for personal reason. He only care about himself. I think the war will end when bush is out of the office. It brings me to tears to think about all the people that die everyday from the war and their family and friends. I say we run that damn b*stard out of the office.
