Have you done all the necessary research on pot bellied pigs?

You must read and learn a lot before owning a pot bellied pig, any animal is a big responsability and you must know what it takes to care of one and if it will make an appropriate pet for you (if you have space/time/ money for expenses they require)

Also, having done all the research in advance will make ownership much more easy, as you will know what to expect and what to do.

Life span is 10-15 years, so it will be a long time commitment.

Books you should read :
The Complete Guide for the Care and Training of Pet Potbellied Pigs - Revised Edition (Paperback)
by Kathleen Myers

Potbellied Pig Behavior And Training (Paperback)
by Priscilla Valentine

If you cant find them locally you can get them from amazon.com

It´s very important finding a veterinarian that knows how to treat them (as not all do), you must find the veterinarian before you get the pig, as a new pet should always be taken to the veterinarian upon arrival to do a health check-up.

Also, before getting the animal, you must have everything ready, supplies...

You need to read on them to understand their behaviour and be able to train them.

(On this sites you´ll find info on how to choose the right breeder or where to adopt them from)

depending on where you are - some parts of the country they're found at auctions and lucky to get a 50cent bid. There's several groups at yahoogroups.com for potbelly pigs.
