People are just an autonomous system. When the power goes down, it stops working. There is no soul.
Soul is only a concept created for people who worry about death. There is no soul or reincarnation.

Nobody could answer this question ...
Just think that we live in 4 dimensions (3 space and 1 time)...and the world is made of 11 (12 or 26 or ... ) dimensions ...
Most of the particle that we know cannot escape the brane of our universe .. they are jailed in the 4 dimensions ....
But Gravitons or some other particles may escape from this universe ....
If you consider that God may live in the Bulk universe (11 D) ...
YOU MAY CONSIDER THAT THE SOUL IS MADE OF PARTICLE THAT EXIST IN A PARALLEL UNIVERSE THAT ARE ATTACHED TO THIS WORLD BY A COMPLEX WAY ....
<<<<< This is based on a Theory

The transporter was an after thought of Gene Roddenberry. The original thought was they would move crews from one place to another with a shuttle craft, but that wasn't really practical in the continuity to the story. So, Gene decided to just have a device to instantly move them from one place to another, thus, the "transporter". The concept of breaking molecules down individually and moving them from here to there is way way beyond our technology. But, with nano-technology becoming a serious factor in our society, it isn't a good idea to say "never", because who would have imagined we could have cellphones today when the original "Startrek" aired. Cellphones today are a whole lot like the communicators they used on the original series. As far as the soul, who knows? We don't know exactly what the soul is to begin with, so if our molecules are reconstituted at the other end, maybe our soul rides along??

I don't think we should rely on science too much as there is no way of judging which is more logic from another. Using science to explain a spirital thing would be pointless in the sense that both do not co-exist. Sometime, even science contradicts itself. (eg Quantum Physics and The Theory of Relativity)
The best answer to the qns: read the bible...

Assuming souls do exist, they are not physical being, so that can't be classified by a state of matter. They are mearly a conditional existence. Therefore, if you believe souls exist then, for YOU they do. Don't be fooled by movies, you wouldn't be able to see, feel or grasp a soul, but you can grasp the concept of one.

A soul IS real, but...
¡¡¡NOPE!!! A soul is NOT made out of matter. A soul is something that does not exist in the physical existence. A soul is something in the spiritual existence, so science it's not made out of matter (or anti-matter), it could float through a solid object, or a solid object would be able to float through it. Also, science it is not made of matter (or anti-matter), it is indestructible\invisible.

I guess the soul and spirit are four dimensional organs. When the connection with the body is gone. it died.
I know nothing about materials in the fourth dimension.

The soul is massless and not made out of particles that we can define.
