Just click on the following link. Then click on scan for updates. It will automatically detect which version of windows you have and give you a list of all the updates which you can download. It also separates them into two groups. The top list, are the "critical ones" which you need to download ASAP. The other ones are optional ones you might also want for your version of windows.-- Go to:

It always good to turn on your automatic update for Windows. I suggest this if you are using a high speed connection for Internet.

But if you are using a comparatively slow connection then you need to search for update at a regular interval using this link http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us

turn on the auto update feature in windows and it will do the rest for you as long as the computer is running
