September 3, 1977. A six-year-old boy falls into the crocodile pit at Miami Serpentarium and is killed by "Cookie", a 12-ft-long crocodile. Serpentarium owner Bill Haast kills the croc the next day.
There may be an Archive here, but, could not find it. This all I found.

I'm sure a Miami newspaper has back logs, microfiche or something on CD or whatever that you can research your subject. If not, I'm sure either City Hall or Dade County courthouse will have records you can research. Or you can do what your first responder said. That may be a quicker way to do things. I'm an older guy who grew up in libraries and public records before the days of computers. I always got my job done, but maybe your first responder is younger and has a quicker process you can follow. God Bless you.
