If you are asking about all running backs ever, then I would have to say Jerome Bettis and Bronco Nagurski! These guys are BIG men and they run and juke around people like they are Little skinny track runners. I have a lot of respect for big running backs. I was one in high school. Bettis was and always will be my idol. Hell, my nickname was the bus as well.
Now, if you are only talking about active players, then hands down, Tomlinson. This boy has some skills and if he keeps his head on straight will be the best in the NFL. He was not consistant last year and that is what he needs to work on this year.

My two favorites are those who the guys you mentioned could not hold their jock strap. Both played for the Detroit Lions, and they are Billy Sims and the great Hall of Famer, Barry Sanders.

I think its a shame Sims is not in the hall of fame. If you look at his numbers, and the years he played, he put up numbers very similar to Gayle Sayers.

Sanders, in my opinion, was the best running back ever (regardless of what his *** father says about he being the third greatest of all time). Its a shame he had to play for such a rinky dink organization, and never get his chance to shine in s Super Bowl.

Earl Campbell was the most fun to watch back when he played as he over powered defenses. Barry Sanders was also fun to watch and it looked like someone was controlling his crazy moves on a video game.I am looking forward to seeing Reggie Bush this season!
I have to say hats off to Gayle Sayers,Jim Brown,Billy Simms, Marcus Dupree,Tony Dorsett,Christian Okoye,Marshall Fauk.
I would have to say that Priest Holmes is the most complete back and hope he can bounce back this upcoming season.
I didn't mention Eric Dickerson because he upset me when he left the Rams after they built their entire offense for him.

Larry Johnson and Priest Holmes make up the best back-field duo in football, probably the best due in the last decade or more.

Being a cowboys fan Emmit Smith is my favorite along with Tony Dorsett. But Off your list I think Warrick Dunn would be my pick pound for pound the best in the NFL
