windows xp tries to access dialup network when it can't resolve a domain name on wireless network?

Go to the internet control panel (or Tools menu, Options option in Internet Explorer) and then the Connections tab. Then set it to "Never dial a connection" and ok out.

go to your set up and remove the check mark on the option to use dial up network if your primary network i.e. wireless is not available

you get to setup via control panel,internet connection or similar

Open your IE and go to the tools -> Internet Options menu.
Select the radio button next to "Never dial a connection".

That fixes it most of the time.
