My physical theropist taught me some exercises to help mine. I then dropped out of physical theropy and did them at home. Like a push up, but your legs lie flat on the floor. And with one of those big balls you sit on it and lift one leg at a time and hold them for 30 seconds each. It takes pressure off your back by toning your stomach and making it stronger.

If you are overweight work on losing it. Do strectching exercises and simple exercises to strengthen the back muscles. You can find some of these exercises online. Soak in a bath with epsom salt, then you can use creams or a heating pad. Don't use the cream and heating pad at the same time it can burn you. Also when lifting use your legs and don't twist.

Start using it more by perhaps some small stretches. Use some heat rub afterwards and always take it easy. Remember when lifting to use your legs and not your back.

Get a better bed. My back is all messed up too, and it doesn't help that I sleep on a crappy mattress. I'm getting a Tempurpedic when I get enough cash.
