in the "functional summary" section, what would you include? Do you think this is the "about me" part. If so what are some of the things you would list to sell yourself?

In a resume this may be the section where you would include your summary of qualifications. A resume is very different than a CV in that a CV is usually used for academic purposes and a resume for job-related intent. If you have an excessively long history of related jobs, publications, professional memberships, educations, honors, etc., a CV would be more appropriate. As a general rule, a resume is 1 page and a CV can be as many as necessary.

But to answer your question, functional summary would be your qualifications...What sets you apart? What makes you the best candidate for this job or school? What can you bring to this institution?? ...ie....Team player qualities, ability to work independently, proficient with Microsoft Office, Adobe Audition, and SPSS, excellent verbal communication...etc...etc...

On my CV/Resume I have got ALL the qualifactions I have got (even the ones with low grades, but NOT including the ones that were and outright fail). And ALL the jobs I have had - listing the tasks I have carried our within those jobs, so the potential employer knows what I can do.

At the end I have got a section called 'Other Information', which lists my hobbies/interests, and the computer software/packages I have used.

I'd use that section to match up your skills/experience with the job description requirements, so if theyre looking for good communications skills, suddenly you have lots of examples of your "superior comms skills"...

Good Luck
