I wanted to know, what is the purpose of having valet keys for a car? Is it possible to start a car using a valet key?

Yes, they can open the door and start the car, but they don't open the trunk or the glove compartment, so the valet can park your car and bring it back to you, but can't steal your stuff.

Yes but you can not access the trunk, glove box or anything else that requires a key. It will only unlock the doors and start the motor. Some have a timer in them now so it will only run for 5 minutes on the key. Then it has to be off for a while before the valet key will start it again.
