I calculate about 22 lbs/corn per gallon of ethanol

Sounds about right when you think how much corn you would have to eat to sustain you while you pushed a car for 25 miles.
Thats a joke of course but it does remind us that a gallon of ethanol or gasoline has a huge combustion energy. I have not cross-checked this with other sources but I believe it is close.
