no but it has been proven that over time, if you wear them frequently, they can mess up your back and cause you problems later on in life. your mom is probably just looking out for you. you'll thank her later.

ps-don't worry...you're not missing too much!

You don't say how old you are, but if your Mom still influences the way you dress you must be pretty young. High heels may look 'cool', but they are the devil in disguise. Normally when you walk, the weight of the body is 'spread' throughout the whole foot, to avoid too much pressure that could cause deformities. When you're wearing high heels, the majority of your weight shifts to your toes and and causes bunions...just look at Victoria Beckham's (Posh Spice's) feet in sandals, and you'll see what I'm talking about. These not only look ugly but get very painful and if they get too bad, the only way to relieve the pain is surgery (pretty painful and 6 weeks in cast -ugh).

Your Mom is right when she doesn't let you wear high heels, as they can cause all kinds of problems with walking if you're wearing them when you're too young...next time you're at the mall, just look at how little kids walk if their parents let them wear high heels: their feet turn inwards, their knees often knock and it makes me want to cry.

Flat shoes and pumps are in fashion this year, so make most it! I hardly ever wear high heels and I certainly wouldn't wanna wear them on a day out shopping: gimme a pair of skechers any day! Your Mom is trying to look out for you, you probably don't appreciate it right now (who does? especially when it comes to fashion), but your feet will thank you for it in the long run (pun not intended).

What did your mom say when you asked her?

She loves you, feel blessed. Some girls moms don't care what they do and let them run wild.

Besides, the guy about the hammer toe thing is right. lol

Thank GOD I was a teenager in the 90's when little heels and pointy shoes were out of style and everyone wore combat boots and big platforms. lol

My feet are too spread out now to wear those little pizza slice shoes, but I understand the need for style. Just wear flipflops. they are cute too and way more comfy. That's what I do.

They're pretty bad for your feet, but they'll also mark you as sexually-available to alot of guys, correctly or not.

Your mom doesn't want you getting that kind of attention or pressure yet.

BTW I recently dated a woman who wore high heels with confining toes in the 80s. Her big toes still lie on top of those next to them. I never said anything to her about it, but it was a real turn-off for a guy who loves massaging women's feet.

Mom knows best. Wait until you're on your own, then do as you please. But don't give yourself "gnarleytoes" or you'll get fewer foot massages ...

She probably thinks that you'll wear high heels and mini skirt. Which makes everyone look like a street whore.

Well, that depends on your age. She may think that you are too young to wear heels. How old are you anyway?

Try asking her if you can wear pumps. they are not as bad for your feet or back.
