To be honest I can't begin to guess, however I would say two things:

First, I don't see where being shy is necessarily a bad thing. Some people are more outgoing than others. The important thing is if a person is good/nice, etc. I have known outgoing and shy people who were, and others who were not.

The second thing is that if you are bothered by your shyness, and/or you are trying to branch out and make new friends the most important thing to remember is that forming friendships/relationships of any kind involves a leap of faith. Some people may disappoint you, or end up hurting you in some way. HOPEFULLY however you will be able to avoid that. Unfortunately though, the only way to completely avoid the risk is to avoid the contact. But if you put yourself out there, I think you'll find some good people, and it's likely that at least some of them will understand about your shyness and will help you work around that.

I am shy most of the time, if that makes any sense. I used to be shy all of the time. It is just who I am. maybe it is just who you are and you will probably start growing out of it just like I am right now.

Because you are unique. But if it bothers you, then concentrate on being your best. Surprisingly, if you groom yourself well, study and participate at school, contribute to your community in some way, and be kind to everyone, you will forget about it.

Remember that we all play roles in life. Pretend that you are an actress playing the role of someone who is not shy. GOOD LUCK.

The most powerful quote I ever read is that you become what you believe. So you are shy because you believe you are shy

Part of it is your nature. I'm shy too. It gets better as you get olders. Your personality is probably more introverted and thoughtful. Maintain a small group of friends so you don't end up completely alone.

Then, I am very shy... even afraid of people. Now i learned to be agressive, and its kewl to reach out and have a confidence within yourself. Do not be afraid of rejection, because people wont if you approach them in a nice way. Now I have countless friends.

You are so shy because you choose so. You are afraid of rejection. You believe that people are better than you. You dont have the confidence to stand out and reach out. Love yourself, believe in yourself and stand out. I believe in you!

some of us just are... I thought I'd never get over being shy...until...I had a baby... i can do new things and go places with him, it's become easier to start a conversation with other moms and when I start to clam up i start talking to my son ( he's 3 now) and it helps...

It's natural, but one day it will go away. I'm 21 and I'm still shy too, so don't feel bad.

Don't worry...I'm sure you are not shy all the time. If you are comfortable enough then you can survive :)
