well, this is a massive asignment and it's going to be a multy task thing.. one of the things I'm doing is The Australian Gold Rush. meh, I've looked and it doesn't say what I wanna know.. gimme info of when it started, finished, who started it etc...

if it is a history paper for class, you will have to have scholarly resources. you can go to the stacks in your library. there, you will find a reference book for almost any historic topic. in them, you will find scholarly authors, books, and other sources you will need. ask the libraian to help you find them if you dont know where they are. they are invaluable to you for many research projects.
for instance, i did a paper on medical treatments during the civil war. in the stacks, there was a book that listed all things written on that topic and their authors, so i knew just what to look for. and most are annotated.
also, at your university, look for thesis papers that have already been done on the topic. they are usually in the library. you can site them and use their bibliography for additional information. every university has the ones that were completed at that school site.
