Actuall there is alot of criminal activity in jail. I believe other than the buisness of jails and their profit ratios that if a "criminal" can be submerced into that environment and refrain then they should be aloud to be set loose. The fact of the matter is this, you put an otherwise law abiding citizen that happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, into jail for 9 months you end up with a criminal. I went to jail for retrieving MY stuff from an exgirlfriend. She had thrown most of my stuff in the trash and used my wallet to frame me for a burglary. Now i am forever a burglar in the eyes of the state. There was no violence, no argument, or anything else to warrant her behavior. This is one side of the story that i obtained an early release for.

They might just serve their whole sentence except this gives them a reason to behave while locked up........Otherwise why wouldn't they beat on each other and create havoc the whole time they're there?

It also frees up jail space so an equally bad or worse criminal can be held.

for the same reason that police use their sirens and rush to the scence of a crime. Isn't it too late by then?

seriously, they should serve the full sentence. Our state arrtorney in florida brags because criminals serve 85% of their sentences. Thats not good enough.

Just because you break the law doesn't mean you aren't human. would you make your child stand in the corner for 3 days? Some crimes should be life. like murder, eye for an eye. someone who did something stupid in their youth shouldn't have to spend life in prison ie.. stealing a car, writing bad checks...etc
