Fried Green Tomatos....is the little old lady really Idgie or not? Who the heck is she?

In the movie the writers certainly implied that Jessica Tandy's character might have been Idgie. However, in the book, it is very clear that she is a different person. Evelyn actually drives by Idgie as an old lady selling honey alongside the road in the book.

They left ya hang'n did they! Well, they left everybody hang'n. I've watched it half a dozen times in case I missed something that would tell me. Nope. It ain't there.

I wonder if a sequal was planned that didn't work out?

So, here is my guess. You never see Idgie with another close female friend. So, how could this old lady know so much detail. To me the only one that could know it is Idgie. She had to be Idgie as far as I'm concerned.

The wife just read this and said I've never been right about anything before, so why do I think I'm right this time. She's got that smug look like she know's the answer and won't tell me. She is smarter than me, but I don't believe she know's either.

Jessica Tandy played the old lady.
