the hormone spray is a great idea.. but it may not be as effective as you would like. they stopped offering the service at the greenhouse I worked at.. it was too expensive and not worth the money.

you know what, i actually saw something in the paper the other day..it was for tress that produces acorns or something like that so i guess it would work
it was a spray so i don't k now if you are into that kind of treatment but anyway i am sure that you do some looking around at your local nursery

I think there's a hormone spray you can apply in the spring, when the tree's flowers are budding, that will suppress development of the nuts. Ask at your garden center.

Try fertilizer with higher nitrogen to stimulate leaf production over flower production. It will not eliminate the fruit process, but it might decrease the yield.

Interesting question, but likely no unless you kill it. Or you could cut off ALL flowers before they bloom? (Good luck) I mean, this is reproductive stuff, would be like trying to make people stop producing stuff if you know what I mean (unless we got "fixed").
