On one hand, as a mom, I don't see what the big deal is with thong underwear. It's UNDERWEAR -- no one else sees it, at least, they aren't supposed to! My daughter is 16 and has been wearing them for about a year. I resisted, but at this point, I can't tell you why, except that it seemed a little slutty -- a little too much like a G-string that a stripper would wear, to be precise. A lot of people have preconceptions about it, and if you were to be dressing or undressing in the locker room, you might get some not-so-nice comments. Also, if you still wear a sanitary pad or panty liner during your period, thongs are impossible. However, I will point out that Victoria's Secret has a nice bikini-style underwear that has flat seams and is designed to be worn in circumstances where you don't want visible panty lines. The entire flag team in our marching band wears it, because it doesn't show under the tights they have to wear with their costume. That might be a nice compromise, especially if you bought one that was close to your skin tone. Believe me, you are far more worried about visible panty lines than you need to be. No one is watching your butt while you're playing volleyball!
