You have to specify.. here are my two categories..

fun and competitive

for fun.. no question, the ocean is so much better, you have waves to body surf, under the sun.. awesome

competitively.. swimming in the ocean is really hard!! you cant see where you are going, you get moved around all over the place.. so I like the pool a lot better

I love to boogey board and snorkel in the ocean, and I love to swim and play in the pool. We have a pool, but live 10 hours from the nearest beach/ocean.

The ocean any time of the year. I grew up around the ocean
area and loved it. The nights are great when you hear the
waves lapping back and fourth. Can be very relaxing when
your all tense and stressed out. Moved away few years ago,
and now i'm in the hot desert area.

The ocean is much better for me. The huge extent, the waves, being out in the weather - I love all that. The down sides are: (1) lack of temperature control, (2) danger from waves/undertow; (3) danger from animals like sharks and man-o-war.

Definitely a pool, there are no other "things" swimming around in there with you!
