I'm looking for a website that will give the value of any home in the U.S. without giving information about myself. I found one a long time ago but do not remember what it was. I typed in a address and zip code and it came up with th value immediately.

What did it mean by "value"? Most likely it was the tax assessment, and if not, it was probably just a number that could be highly inaccurate. If you are looking for the value of a particular property in any town or city you can always contact the tax assessor's office in that town and give the property address. Property tax assessments are public information and they should give it to you right over the phone.

The only thing about property tax assessments is that to find an approximate market value you would need to know the ratio to true value for that particular town. Town-wide revaluations are only done every ten years or so, maybe longer, because it is expensive to do so. Over that period of time the sale prices will drift off of what the tax assessment was set at originally. So in a town you might find the ratio is 89%. This means that the assessment is approximately 89% or the true value, or what the property might sell at. So you need to do the math, and to figure it out you need two numbers, the ratio to true value and the assessment.

The best way to get the value on your house without spending a penny is to contact a Real Estate agent and ask them to give you a free market analysis of your home. They will have the best information and the best answer. You are wasting your time on the net. Plus with some agents you can find out over the phone without them coming to your house, if you have a newer home. If not it is just a simple appointment that takes about 15 to 20 minutes for the agent to look at your house and compare it. On the net you have to give up information, and then they want to contact you about other stuff. Don't do that. Call your agent.
