When Kanye West told us that, “George Bush doesn’t care about black people,” we were quickly reminded that hip-hop can be political as much as it can make us dance.

It also reminds us that the current economic and political situation in the U.S. it is not just the product of George Bush, but a system that has targeted the poor, working-class and youth populations.

However, the repression and abandonment has always produced a response at one level or another, sometimes through political activism and sometimes through hip-hop.

He was simply speaking truth to power.

because of the way the gov't responded to the predominantly black victims at the Dome in New Orleans. He didn't show up to New Orleans until day 4 or 5 maybe more. They wouldn't even let the water supply trucks in. It was disgusting and heart wrenching to watch.
No, I don'/t think Bush hates black people at all (Condoleeza and Colin Powell, no other pres.). I think this was a local gov't doing. Some good old white boys colluding to keep out the trucks. George Bush thought Fema had everything under control.

Kanye said it because when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans (the black suburbs), Bush did not do anything about it 'til at least a week. I think the statement "Bush hates black People" is an over-generalization even though his lack of effort and care made it seem like he did. I want to remain neutral on the fact whether he does or not because I do not know Bush's attitude towards Blacks.

Maybe the dumb*ss should talk the the democratic governors of Louisiana who have had power for 125 consecutive years.

Then look at the government of New Orleans it self since democrats have run the city for over 100 straight years.

They did nothing in the last 100 years except train their citizens to wait on handouts till it literally killed them. The fact that they were stupid enough to put Ray Nagan back in office shows how well they have been trained.

After having 100 years of uninterrupted power to make the place anything you wanted and the fact that the city is a total sh*t hole tells me democrats SUCK when it comes to doing virtually anything.

Kanye West said "Bush doesn't care about Black people". The statement is too narrow. Bush doesn't care about much of anyone or anything. He has been bailed out of every mistake in his entire life and is an immature, stupid, simple-minded, arrogant, ignorant frat boy who is best at losing interest and walking away.

Those who support him are generally ignorant too, too consumed with nonissues like gay marriage and boobs on TV to notice they are getting f*cked in the a*s by the upper one percent.

There were many white people affected by Katrina also. I think GW just plain doesnt care. Period. And I was disappointed that Kayne would say something inciteful (not insightful) as he did.

He did NOT say that. He said "George Bush does not care about black people". I guess it seemed that way at the time because of New Orleans. I do know he cares about at least one black person.

Kanye said "Bush doesn't care about black people", because poor black people were stranded in New Orleans, and the president who is supposed to care about all Americans, didn't seem to care at all about them.

Kanye West is NOT the epitome of educated and knowledgeable spokespersons for the black community.

I was embarrassed for him.

Gawd!

No! I don't think GWB hates black people.

Because Kanye West is a racist ****** who blames the white man for all of the black man's woes.

He needs to wake up and smell the coffee.
