My inlaws have made a room for my husbands brother in their shop. It has no ventilation or water And I want more info on whether or not they can do this

sorry that I was not more specific. They will not let him in their house. He has no access to a bathroom or food. we are in mo.

Probably not, but your city or county may have a Housing Code Inspections office that can give you more info. This may be part of the department of housing or of community affairs. The below link can give you one community's example but each community may have its own standards.

Would you rather they kick him out? Unless they are charging him rent there is probably no legal problems with it. If they're charging rent then living conditions can come into play. You also say they made a "room". A room doesn't need water to be liveable. Most people don't have running water in their bedrooms.

if he is better off there than on the street. I assume he's an adult. If not, then I guess you should contact someone.
