Based on a 40 hour week, that is a raise every 12 and 1/2 weeks, or roughly every quarter. 40 cents annually. I know many people in office jobs who do not get this much of an annual raise, if they even get a raise every year.

Most grocery stores have unions. If you have a problem with it, I suggest you talk to them. But, yes, it is legal.
