Well it didn't start out as A to Z. It all started because of the first accident.One Cave man came back covered in bee stings and the other one asked him what the hell happened to him. He said A B C and pointed to the stings on his head. The other guy looked at that and said N O Q. The first guy said what happened to the P? The guy says it's running down my leg. Over the next 3 million years the alphabet was formed. It was out of necessity to convey accidents.

the answer to this is long and very interesting. robert graves' book 'the white goddess' sets out to solve this ancient riddle.

'the white goddess' is some 600 pages long. not one word is wasted, and you will find it is one of the most memorable books you ever read.

at the end of it you will know about several different sequences which the alphabet has had in history - and you will also have met one of the most interesting theories about why the one which lasted was this one.

Not everyone uses ABC. Among the Greeks the order was alpha beta, delta, gamma; among the Hebrews the order was aleph beth, gimmel. For the ancient Clets the order was beth, luis, nion.

actually it was the phoenicians. and each symbol meant a particular sound, and it made reading and writing a lot easier because you didn't have to guess on what a symbol meant. for all we know, they could have done it from X to F, but thats just how they did it,

its a compilation of letters from greek and latin and aravic so its a good question why its like it is but the greeks went from a to o or alpha to omega and i guess we go from a to z as it was written

Because if it was M to X or F to L, you'd have asked a question why is it not A to Z.
